Polestar has been making waves in the electric car scene, so it’s no surprise they’ve ventured into the e-bike market with something that stands out—not just in looks but in performance too.
Teaming up with Swedish bicycle maker Allebike, Polestar has unveiled a limited edition electric mountain bike tailored to match their stylish SUV lineup, including the Polestar 4. Priced at a staggering €8,800, this exclusive e-bike aims to attract Polestar vehicle enthusiasts, likely costing more than what many would put down for a car’s deposit.
Diving deeper, the Polestar eMTB features top-line specs that justify its premium price tag. Equipped with Shimano’s EP8 drive system and a hefty 750Wh battery, it promises long rides with less downtime.
With robust Öhlins front and rear suspension—170mm and 160mm travel, respectively—this bike guarantees a smooth ride on tough terrains. Polestar describes it as “an electric mountain bike with thrilling rides and impressive off-road capabilities, akin to their electric performance SUVs.”
The bike’s carbon fiber frame is designed for durability without added weight. A Shimano XT 12-speed electronic groupset, coupled with Shimano XTR M9120 brakes, ensures precise handling, while a RockShox Reverb AXS dropper seat post (offering 170mm drop) helps riders prepare for steep descents. Its aggressive geometry, with a 64.3º head tube angle and 77.5º seat tube angle, is optimized for climbing.
From an aesthetic standpoint, this bike embodies Polestar’s signature design. It’s dressed in the unique “Polestar exterior colour Space,” complemented by details in the brand’s trademark Swedish gold. These design touches not only enhance its luxury appeal but also create a cohesive look with Polestar’s SUV range, perfect for those wanting to match their ride.
That said, there are a couple of downsides. Currently, the bike is available in just one frame size, catered to riders between 170-190cm tall. Additionally, it’s only sold within the European Economic Area (EEA), excluding the UK.
Polestar’s foray into the e-bike sphere aligns with its strategy to tap into the luxury lifestyle niche, much like their approach in the electric vehicle arena. The combination of high-end features and elegant design not only showcases this ambition but also strengthens their product lineup. While the price may deter some, those willing to invest will find themselves with an exceptional piece of engineering.
