A heartwarming story of friendship between a dog and a stray has captured the internet’s attention, prompting one owner to adopt her pet’s new best friend.
Kyla Campbell, 23, was in Kentucky for a two-month work trip and brought along her rescue dog, Chester, a boxer/terrier mix. During their daily walks in Paintsville, she noticed an alarming number of stray dogs in the area.
Chester usually enjoyed meeting other dogs but formed a unique bond with one particular stray named Frank. “We found Frank just two blocks from our hotel,” Campbell recalled. “He was so friendly and instantly the cutest little dog I’d seen. Chester was immediately drawn to him.”

Seeing Chester and Frank together convinced Campbell that their connection was special. “Frank craved affection, and Chester had a soft spot for him,” she shared.
Wanting to ensure Frank was indeed a stray, Campbell spoke to local residents and posted on a Facebook community page. With no one claiming him, she decided to welcome Frank into her family, allowing Chester to leave Kentucky with a new furry companion.
Campbell said, “It was an easy decision. The first night, he snuggled up under the covers with me and stayed by my side. His playful personality was irresistible.”
However, bringing Frank home wasn’t without challenges. He needed house training and didn’t understand indoor etiquette, often trying to eat everything around him.
On October 16, Campbell shared a heartwarming TikTok video showing the moment Chester and Frank “fell in love,” featuring them playfully running, nipping at each other, and cuddling on the couch.
The video quickly went viral, amassing over 107,600 views and 13,900 likes, far beyond Campbell’s expectations.
With more than 480 comments, viewers praised the bond between the two dogs. One user noted, “OMG, he adopted his own dog!” while another gushed, “This is the sweetest story ever! Thank you for keeping him!”
