Heartwarming Story: Rescue Dog FaceTimes Birth Mom with Life-Changing News

Get ready for the feels – a pet owner captured the heartwarming moment when her rescue dog, Momo, FaceTimed her birth mom to share the news that they were finally safe and would soon reunite.

Mitchy McGhan shared an emotional video of Momo, adopted from Samson’s Sanctuary Rescue in Los Angeles, California, engaging with Midori, the mom she had to leave behind in South Korea under tragic circumstances.

It’s pretty amazing how dogs like Momo can recognize images on screens. Research published in the journal, Animal Cognition, shows that dogs can distinguish pictures of other dogs using their visual senses alone.

While it’s uncertain if Momo remembers her mom, the pain of separation surely lingers for Midori. McGhan met Midori during a trip to Korea and felt compelled to reunite her with Momo in the U.S., where she now resides.

Midori and other dogs were rescued by a local shelter after their owner fell ill. McGhan described finding Midori in dire conditions, nearly drowning in floodwater while pregnant and chained. If not for the rescue, she may not have survived.

After giving birth to Momo and her siblings at a shelter in Korea, Midori watched her puppies get adopted one by one, leaving her heartbroken and despondent. Despite being deemed “unsuitable for adoption abroad,” McGhan couldn’t bear to leave Midori behind.

With the help of Samson’s Sanctuary, Midori was spayed and treated for heartworm, making her eligible to reunite with her pups in the U.S. McGhan shared, “She will fly with me on July 28, and the first pup she will see is her daughter Momo.”

The goal is to find a forever home for Midori, who has endured so much. McGhan is also working on bringing Momo’s father, Moonshine, to the U.S. to reunite the entire family.

This heartwarming tale will soon be more than just a FaceTime call – it will be a long-awaited embrace and a new beginning.
