Urgent Plea: 19 Dogs at Texas Kill Shelter Need Homes Within 24 Hours

A shelter in Texas is urgently asking for help to save 19 dogs on its euthanasia list, with a deadline of 5 p.m. Wednesday for them to find homes before they face the worst fate.

In a TikTok video posted by @rescuedogarmy, the Houston shelter highlights a pup named Paras, along with 18 other dogs who need immediate adoption. The video emphasizes, “Paras #A625008 has until 5pm 09/11 at Harris County Shelter. There are 19 dogs that must find homes by 5pm.“

The shelter is overwhelmed and needs more rescues to process applications for potential adopters. Many dogs have families ready to adopt them, but there simply aren’t enough rescues to facilitate this.

Brown, who runs the @rescuedogarmy account, clarified that they are not a shelter, but a volunteer-driven initiative working to post updates and network pets in need. She underlined their mission to encourage positive change on a broader scale to eliminate euthanasia lists entirely.

According to Voices of Change Animal League (VOCAL), kill shelters often take in every kind of pet without strict guidelines, which contributes to high euthanasia rates due to lack of space and resources. This year alone, around 6.3 million pets find their way into U.S. shelters, translating to an average of 17,260 animals daily.

Many dogs are surrendered due to various problems, including age, allergies, and behavioral issues. Sadly, this leads to approximately 920,000 animals being euthanized each year, although shelters are making efforts to decrease these numbers through adoption drives and educational programs on responsible pet ownership.

The TikTok video has gained quite a bit of attention, amassing over 1,035 views and several encouraging comments from users urging others to help find homes for these pets.

Let’s rally together to give these dogs the loving homes they deserve!
