The Washington Commanders are gearing up for the 2024 season with a new look. With Dan Quinn, former defensive coordinator of the Dallas Cowboys, now at the helm as head coach. The No. 2 overall draft pick, Jayden Daniels, the reigning Heisman trophy winner, could bring a fresh perspective to the team.
Daniels, however, remains grounded about his rookie journey so far. In an ESPN interview, he humbly stated, “I ain’t a star quarterback yet. It’s still a long road ahead. I’m a rookie.”
Despite high expectations, Daniels’ fate as the starting QB is still uncertain. Head coach Dan Quinn, known for his ability to develop players, has not made a definitive decision yet.
In a recent press conference, Quinn mentioned that while Daniels has shown remarkable progress, the starting QB position remains up for grabs. Marcus Mariota has also been in the mix, creating healthy competition within the team.
It’s evident that Daniels still has a lot to prove and learn before being handed the reins. His rookie status may be a factor in the final decision. However, with the talent surrounding him, including players like Austin Ekeler, Zach Ertz, and Terry McLaurin, Daniels has a strong support system.
Quinn emphasized the importance of preparation and readiness for the season ahead. While Daniels remains a promising prospect, the Commanders have options in Mariota and Jeff Driskel to turn to if needed.
