Since its debut on January 11, 1993, Monday Night Raw has been the cornerstone of WWE, captivating fans for 32 seasons and a staggering 1,635 episodes.
Now, as it gears up for a move to Netflix after a long stint on the USA Network, exciting changes are on the horizon—starting with a legendary wrestler’s anticipated return.
Canadian sports broadcaster Jackie Redmond recently shared that the one and only Bret “The Hitman” Hart will make his presence felt on WWE Monday Night Raw for its “season premiere” on September 9, 2024. “I can officially confirm that Canadian LEGEND, Bret The Hitman Hart, will be in attendance this Monday for the season premiere of [WWE Raw] at the Saddledome in Calgary,” Redmond announced on social media. “Break out your pink and let’s rock!”
This was further validated by WWE’s head of creative, Triple H, who tweeted, “When in Hart country… [Bret Hart] joins us for [WWE Monday Night Raw]’s massive season premiere, this Monday at 8/7c LIVE from Calgary on [USA Network]. You definitely won’t want to miss this.”
While specifics on Hart’s involvement remain under wraps, rumors suggest a potential connection with Gunther, the reigning WWE World Heavyweight Champion.
This marks Hart’s first appearance on Raw in nearly a decade, though he’s made occasional appearances elsewhere, including his induction into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2019 and a spot at Clash at the Castle in 2022.
Notably, Hart has also graced the AEW arena, unveiling the AEW Championship title belt at Double or Nothing in 2019, which Chris Jericho later clinched.
As a staple of the renowned Hart Wrestling Family, Bret made his professional wrestling debut in 1978 with his father’s promotion, Stampede Wrestling. He transitioned to the then-WWF in 1986, where he joined forces with manager Jimmy Hart and his brother-in-law Jim Neidhart as part of The Hart Foundation, capturing the WWF Tag Team Championship twice.
Throughout his illustrious tenure, Hart earned multiple titles, including the Intercontinental and WWF Championships, engaging in legendary rivalries along the way. His time with WCW was equally impactful, although an unfortunate injury cut his in-ring career short in 2000.
Over the course of his career, Hart secured numerous titles, including five WWF Championships, two WCW World Heavyweight Championships, and various other accolades such as the King of the Ring and Royal Rumble victories.
