Caitlin Clark has emerged as a standout in the WNBA, despite being a rookie. The former NCAA basketball all-time leading scorer has seamlessly transitioned to the professional level, setting new records along the way.

Clark recently broke the WNBA record for most assists in a game with 19. She has also been selected, along with rookie sensation Angel Reese, to play in the All-Star Game for Team WNBA.
Although invited to participate in the 3-point Contest during the Skills Competition, Clark opted out. She has now shared her reasoning behind this decision.
Speaking to reporters, Clark explained her choice to skip the 3-point Contest.
“Honestly, I just need some rest. I’ve been playing basketball non-stop for a year. It’s not easy to show up and shoot from a rack, especially when it’s a new challenge for me. I haven’t had much practice with it as I’ve been focused on helping my team win games,” Clark revealed.
Clark’s relentless basketball schedule began with her final season at Iowa Hawkeyes, ending in April. She swiftly transitioned into WNBA Draft preparations and preseason activities with the Indiana Fever.
Without a break, she continued training, including preseason and regular season games, back-to-back for months. It’s understandable why she felt the need for some downtime even amidst the All-Star festivities.
“I’m cherishing this break. There will be other opportunities for me down the road… Right now, my priority is to recharge. It’s essential for my well-being,” Clark emphasized.
Clark’s high-profile entry into the WNBA spotlight has attracted significant attention, making it crucial for her to find moments of reprieve. Despite opting out of the 3-point Contest, she remains a key player in the WNBA All-Star Game scheduled for Saturday, July 20 at 8:30 p.m. EST, airing live on ABC.
