Young tennis sensation Carlos Alcaraz made waves by defeating the legendary Novak Djokovic once again in the Wimbledon final. The 21-year-old successfully defended his title against the seven-time Wimbledon champion in a gripping five-set match on Sunday.

This time around, Alcaraz dominated the court. Standing at 6 feet tall, the world No. 3 outplayed the 24-time Grand Slam winner in three straight sets – 6-2, 6-2, 7-6 – showcasing impressive serves, composure, and patience.

Alcaraz has now secured back-to-back major wins after claiming victory in the French Open earlier this season and winning the US Open in 2022.

While Djokovic is considered one of the greatest male tennis players in history, the 37-year-old seems to be facing a challenge against the rising star Alcaraz, especially since Djokovic has yet to clinch a major title this year. A loss at the upcoming US Open would mark his first Grand Slam-less season since 2017 due to an elbow injury.

The head-to-head record between Alcaraz and Djokovic is now tied at 3-3. On different court surfaces, they stand at 1-1 on clay, 2-0 for Djokovic on hard courts, and 2-0 for Alcaraz on grass.

After the match, Djokovic graciously acknowledged Alcaraz’s standout performance, admitting, “He was a better player. He played every single shot better than I did.”

In response to Alcaraz’s impressive serving, Djokovic commented, “I’ve never seen him serve that way… He must have had a really good serving practice day yesterday… Yes, overall he really outplayed me.”

Djokovic, recovering from a recent injury, is gearing up for the 2024 Paris Olympics, where he will represent Serbia. Alcaraz aims to secure Spain’s first Olympic gold medal in tennis.
