Professional wrestling is thrilling, filled with incredible athletic feats and larger-than-life characters. But sometimes, the excitement can lead to mishaps.
In a recent episode of Monday Night RAW, Kairi Sane and IYO SKY from Damage CTRL squared off against The Unholy Union (Isla Dawn and Alba Fyre) in a No. 1 Contenders match for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship.
During a daring move, Sane jumped from the turnbuckle but unfortunately struck her head on the announcers’ table, resulting in a nasty cut just above her eye.
Fans were initially unaware of the incident—until they spotted Sane, covered in blood, and vocally confronting Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill, the reigning WWE Women’s Tag Champions.
Thankfully, WWE’s medical team ensured Sane was okay, and she is expected to continue participating in matches.
Later, Sane shared a post on Instagram, showcasing her injury with a thumbs-up emoji. She followed up with a story, joking, “I need an eye patch, haha,” which would perfectly fit her Pirate Princess character.
SKY also praised her partner’s resilience, stating, “I’m proud of my tag team partner. Bleeding was nothing to her. Kairi Sane is insanely tough!!!!!”
Kairi Sane’s wrestling journey began in World Wonder Ring Stardom, where she found early success. She held multiple titles before joining WWE in 2017, capturing the Mae Young Classic tournament win and the NXT Women’s Championship.
After a stint in WWE, where she became part of the Kabuki Warriors and won the Women’s Tag Team Championship twice, Sane briefly returned to Japan before her return to WWE in 2023, aiding IYO SKY in retaining the Women’s Championship.
Now a key player in Damage CTRL, Sane continues to make waves in women’s wrestling.
