A recent TikTok video detailing a clever travel hack for watching movies on your phone has taken the internet by storm.
This tip was highlighted by @tay_shearer, garnering over 571,000 views since its launch on July 30.
An overlay on the video states, “As a flight attendant, I’ve seen a lot, but this is by far the coolest hack I’ve encountered.” The clip demonstrates someone on a plane using a phone secured against the inner fold of a cap resting on a tray table. The poster captioned, “I still can’t believe it!”
According to a report by Grand View Research, the global in-flight entertainment market was valued at $5.96 billion in 2022, with an expected growth rate of 8.4% annually from 2023 to 2030.
Forecasts by Euromonitor International suggest that global travel spending could hit $2 trillion in 2024, fueled by a surge in leisure travel.
The air travel sector has rebounded impressively since the COVID-19 pandemic, with passenger demand rising by 11% in April 2023, based on information from the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
In November 2023, total air traffic reached 99.1% of pre-pandemic levels, according to a January report from IATA.
‘So Smart’
Viewers on TikTok have applauded the innovative plane hack.
Comments ranged from “another level” by Hard-line Tactical to “I’m definitely trying that,” from Sean Molina, who received an enthusiastic “same! so smart” response from the original poster.
Others chimed in too: Darren Olson confirmed, “I do the same,” to which the original poster expressed surprise that it was their first time seeing it. Bradmann85 noted, “My brother does this,” while Edward Alves humorously mentioned doing it last week.
One user commented on the creativity of the hack, stating, “Partially removing a phone case, slipping in a piece of paper, and attaching it to the tray table is the most creative I have seen for a holder.”
