A traveler took to TikTok to express her disappointment over in-flight food that didn’t meet expectations. Eleonora Juhos, a 29-year-old from Slovakia, was looking forward to savoring a lasagna while flying from Vienna to Tenerife but was let down by what she received.
Juhos shared a side-by-side comparison of the lasagna featured in the airline’s menu versus the reality, racking up over 7,000 views on her post. “I knew I wouldn’t get gourmet meals for €12.50 on a budget airline, but the packaging gave a misleading impression,” she explained.
The first image shows a delicious-looking lasagna, while the second reveals a less appetizing, cheese-topped dish encased in plastic. “This was my first time ordering food on a flight, even though I’ve traveled with them many times before. Since it was a five-hour journey, I figured I’d try the veggie option—the lasagna, which sadly turned out to have bits of courgette in a watery sauce,” she recounted.
Feeling guilty about wasting food, she attempted to eat some. “I posted this not to complain, but to give others a heads-up about what to expect and to think twice before ordering from Ryanair,” she noted.
Ryanair, known as Europe’s leading low-cost airline, serviced over 182 million passengers in 2023 and offers various in-flight meals like vegan lasagna and Thai green curry.
Responses to Juhos’ TikTok post varied widely. Some users found the food to be decent for airline standards, while others were sympathetic to her plight, with comments like, “Oh Ryanair food, I wish I could have warned you,” echoing her sentiments.
Still, not everyone shared her disappointment, with one user stating, “Looks fine to me,” and another questioning her expectations from airplane food.
