Hey there! Traveling can be a bit of a circus sometimes, right? All the hustle and bustle can really bring out the best or worst in people.
A recent study of 2,002 travelers by Solitaire Bliss unveiled some interesting findings about travel habits across different states. Turns out, folks from Iowa, Illinois, and Virginia have a reputation for being a tad rude while Arkansans, Alabamians, and Floridians are all about that friendly vibe.
From reclining seats without asking, going barefoot, to passing gas in public, this study dug deep into the annoying travel behaviors that ruffle feathers.
The survey spanned all 50 states, collecting insights on observed behaviors and identifying the worst offenders. Some states rose above the rest on the “naughty behavior” scale, with Iowa topping the charts at 94.29 followed closely by Illinois and Virginia.
In contrast, Arkansas, Alabama, and Florida were hailed for their well-behaved travelers with the lowest “naughty behavior” scores.
When it comes to specific behaviors, it seems many travelers just can’t resist reclining seats without permission, blatantly disregarding seatbelt signs, or hogging armrests. And yes, gas passing is a thing too!
It’s worth noting that Spirit Airlines was the carrier often associated with these less-than-ideal behaviors.
Interestingly, the survey also highlighted that Gen Zers might take the cake for committing these “naughty” behaviors – or at least owning up to them.
Bad behavior on flights can really put a damper on the whole travel experience. It’s been cited by some as a major source of stress and can easily sour the vacation vibe. No one likes a loud, entitled passenger causing a ruckus, right?
