Avoiding expensive airport taxis is always a win. In a bid to cut costs, a passenger in Iceland took an extreme measure – walking to the terminal for hours!
In a viral video shared on TikTok under the handle @therealmaceyjane, a woman was seen bravely trudging along an empty road with her luggage. The caption humorously hinted at this tale becoming a legendary dinner-table story one day.
The woman shares more about her journey and thoughts in a follow-up video. As she faces the challenging trek, she keeps her spirits up by conversing with the camera. “I’m speaking to myself to pass the time,” she chuckles in the recording.
Explaining her predicament, she reveals, “It’s 4:30 in Iceland… Ubers are unavailable, and public transport isn’t permitted until eight o’clock. So, we’re hiking to the Airport… I’m confident this is the safest option.”
As she maneuvers through the desolate Icelandic landscape, her journey embodies a mix of adventurous spirit and concern.
Reaching a more desolate part, she reflects, “Now we are in the deserted areas of Iceland…but with that plane flying nearby, I know my direction. It’s like a scene from a Texas-style movie—crazy. Anyway, gotta keep moving because I’m kind of lost!”
The video captures her finally arriving at a parking lot, triumphantly declaring, “I did it!” as she shivers, mentioning the frigid weather.
‘That’s Wild’
TikTok users were both impressed and amused by her determination.
One user tweeted, “That’s wild – $200 is totally worth it.” Another asked in disbelief, “Did you plan your entire trip around this?”
DiaryofaSoloTraveler remarked, “I am impressed!!!” while another user saw the bright side, saying, “It’s just an extension of your holiday, a true Icelandic mid-morning hike.”
