The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued four baby formula recalls affecting consumers both online and in Texas.
These recalls in 2024 were due to production concerns, label mix-ups, nutritional issues, and potential contamination by bacteria like Cronobacter, which can be dangerous for infants.
Here is a list, starting with the most recent recall:
Dairy Manufacturers Inc., Crecelac and Farmalac Formula
Dairy Manufacturers Inc. in Prosper, Texas, mentioned that their Crecelac and Farmalac formulas were not FDA-approved on May 24. FDA is still evaluating if they meet U.S. safety and nutrition standards.
A press release on June 3 stated that some batches of Crecelac Infant Formula tested positive for melamine in Texas. The formula, exclusively distributed in Texas, tested positive for Cronobacter, which can cause severe infections in infants.
The affected product has UPC code 8 50042 40847 6 and a shelf-life until August 2025. Consumers are advised to stop using the formula and return it for a refund by contacting 1-972-347-2441.
