In a playful jab at Donald Trump, Georgia Democrats took to the skies during a college football game with a banner suggesting he lost the recent presidential debate.
According to Atlanta Journal-Constitution reporter Greg Bluestein, the banner was displayed over Sanford Stadium on Saturday as the Georgia Bulldogs triumphed over the Auburn Tigers, winning 31-13.
Bluestein shared a live update on X (formerly Twitter), showcasing the banner that read, “Trump: 1 debate loss, 0 SEC championships.”
Trump participated in what may have been his only debate with Vice President Kamala Harris on September 10. Although he asserted his victory in the ABC-moderated event, various polls indicated that many viewers thought Harris came out ahead.
Harris has agreed to another debate scheduled by CNN for October 23. However, during a rally in Wilmington, North Carolina, on September 21, Trump argued it was “too late” for another debate since early voting for the 2024 election already started in some states.
“She’s done one debate, I’ve done two. It’s too late to do another, I’d love to, but the voters are out there,” he stated.
The Democratic National Committee (DNC) has been active in promoting similar banners at various football games targeting both Trump and his running mate, Ohio Senator JD Vance.
One banner over the University of Wisconsin’s Camp Randall Stadium proclaimed “Jump Around! Beat Trump + Project 2025,” referencing the iconic hip-hop tune played during games.
Another banner at Michigan Stadium suggested, “Michigan: JD Vance <3 Ohio State + Project 2025," making similar connections.
Trump and his campaign have repeatedly denied any ties to Project 2025, a set of conservative policy proposals from the Heritage Foundation.
“These banners connect with fans and serve as a reminder that the crucial contest is approaching in November,” noted DNC deputy communications director Abhi Rahman.
“The contrast in this election couldn’t be clearer, and we have a winning strategy: tackle Project 2025, and charge toward a fairer America for everyone.”
Additionally, Harris’ campaign attempted to fly a banner over Bryant-Denny Stadium in Alabama that read “Trump’s Punting on 2nd Debate” on September 28 while Trump attended the game. Unfortunately, adverse weather conditions prevented the plane from taking off.
