Donald Trump, the former president’s campaign, has reacted to Hunter Biden‘s recent guilty verdict.
According to Trump’s national press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, this trial is seen as a diversion from what they allege are crimes committed by the Biden family, claiming millions from China and Russia. Leavitt mentioned that after November 5, “Crooked Joe Biden” won’t be able to run the “Biden Criminal Empire,” hinting that corrupt dealings will be brought to an end.
Hunter Biden, son of Joe Biden and former Vice President, remained impassive as a Wilmington (Delaware) jury found him guilty in his federal firearm trial. This marks the first instance of a child of an American president being convicted of federal crimes.
CNN reported Trump’s campaign’s announcement, criticizing it as a distraction from alleged illicit activities, suggesting financial backings from China, Russia, and Ukraine.
The charges against Hunter Biden included making false statements about a firearm transaction, false representation in a gun transaction, and being a firearms user while drug-addicted. The jury deliberated for three hours before reaching a verdict from Monday to Tuesday.
If found guilty, Hunter Biden could face up to 25 years in prison for the charges. His plea included no contest, particularly in making false statements in acquiring a gun and possessing an illegal firearm while using drugs.
Post-verdict, President Biden expressed pride and support for his son’s recovery from addiction. He mentioned standing by him throughout, regardless of any appeal outcomes.
First Lady Jill Biden was present in the courtroom during the verdict reading, showing support for Hunter Biden alongside his spouse, Melissa Cohen Biden.
