Eric Trump recently praised the U.S. Secret Service this week, following criticism from certain Republicans targeting Director Kimberly Cheatle.
During an interview on MSNBC’s show Katy Tur Reports on Tuesday, Eric Trump shared his thoughts on the recent assassination attempt against his father at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Expressing his admiration for the Secret Service agents on stage that day, Eric Trump stated, “I know all of those agents on stage and they’re the greatest people ever.”
He continued, “Every single one of those people would have taken a bullet for him that day and they did, they jumped in. I don’t put any of this on them. In fact, I laud them for their courageousness and heroism that day because they could have been killed as well.”
Eric Trump also raised concerns about the security measures at the rally, pointing out the lapses that allowed the assailant to carry out the attack.
Following the incident, Elon Musk called for the resignation of the Secret Service head, while various individuals on social media demanded accountability from Director Kimberly Cheatle.
House Speaker Mike Johnson announced plans for a full investigation into the events and vowed to have Cheatle appear before committees for a hearing.
Republican Representative Lauren Boebert introduced legislation aimed at holding Cheatle responsible for the agency’s perceived failure to protect President Trump during the rally.
In response, Cheatle emphasized the Secret Service’s commitment to understanding and preventing such incidents in the future, expressing a dedication to their duty of protecting current and former leaders of the nation.
