Big news in the baby world! The baby formula that got pulled from shelves last month is now in the hot seat with the FDA. The FDA has raised the alarm to the highest level about this recall. It’s classified as a Class 1 recall, which is as serious as it gets when it comes to the FDA and product removal.
This year alone, the FDA has issued over 500 Class 1 recalls. According to the FDA, a Class 1 recall is when there’s a high chance that using the product could lead to serious health issues or even death. The FDA is especially worried when it comes to products for kids. They’re urging parents to get rid of this recalled baby formula ASAP to keep their little ones safe.
In response to the FDA’s recommendation, Healthwest Minerals made a voluntary recall of 1,506 Goat Milk Formula Recipe Kit boxes on May 10th.
The FDA shared, “The Goat Milk Formula Recipe Kit was being sold as an infant formula without having gone through the necessary FDA review as required for infant formula premarket notification.”
Mount Capra has an online store and a physical shop in Chehalis, Washington, and the boxes were sold between May 1, 2020, and May 1, 2024.
The FDA strongly advises against using this product for infants aged 0-12 months. If you’ve already prepared this formula, it’s best to speak with a healthcare provider for advice on any necessary nutritional tests.
This recall is part of a series of recent recalls involving various baby formula products due to concerns about manufacturing, nutritional content, and the potential presence of harmful bacteria like Cronobacter sakazakii, which can be deadly for babies.
Some other products involved in this year’s recalls include Crecelac, Farmalac, and Goat Milk Toddler Formulas from Sammy’s Milk, as well as Nutramigen Powder from Reckitt/Mead Johnson Nutrition, Gerber Good Start, Enfamil ProSobee, and more.
