JD Vance Claims Kamala Harris Doesn’t Compare to MLK

During a campaign rally in St. Cloud, Minnesota, Republican VP candidate JD Vance criticized the media and Vice President Kamala Harris, asserting that “she’s not MLK.” Vance accused the media of misleading the public about Harris and President Joe Biden.

Vance pointed out the media representatives at the venue, prompting the crowd to boo, and remarked, “For three and a half years, my friends, they told us that Joe Biden was Abraham Lincoln. And now the media tells us that Kamala Harris is Martin Luther King Jr. Can you believe it?”

Harris, aiming to leverage her role as the first Black woman and south Asian descent nominee of a major party, received significant support from Black voters, with a Michigan poll showing 82.1% support for her and zero for Trump.

In July, Biden endorsed Harris as his successor, leading her to become the presumptive Democratic nominee. Vance emphasized that neither Biden nor Harris paralleled historical figures like Abraham Lincoln or MLK.

Vance referred to Harris as a “card-carrying member of the San Francisco Lunatic Fringe,” highlighting her roots in California and tenure as a senator from 2017 to 2021.

Vance, supported by Trump at the rally, joined in criticizing the media, following Trump’s past use of “fake news” to denounce unfavorable press coverage.

Recent attacks on Harris by Vance and Trump have portrayed her as ultra-leftist and disconnected from moderate voters, shifting blame for the border crisis onto her.

Vance alleged that a “border czar” like Harris has neglected crucial border issues, accusing the administration of granting work permits to illegal immigrants, impacting American jobs and wages.

Harris was labeled as the “border czar” since March 2021, tasked by Biden to engage diplomatically with countries like Mexico to address the root causes of migrant surges.

Under the Biden administration, unauthorized border crossings have increased, as per Customs and Border Protection data, surpassing figures from the prior Trump administration.
