A short 30-second video clip of Joe Biden veering away from other world leaders during the recent Group of Seven Summit (G7) has created a buzz on social media. However, some users argue that the video lacks necessary context.
The video was first shared on X (formerly Twitter) by RNC Research, an account managed by the Republican National Committee and former president Donald Trump‘s campaign team.
In the clip, Biden is seen applauding a skydiving display with other G7 leaders. However, he then turns away from the group towards a man packing a parachute and exchanges words with him, eventually getting a tap on the shoulder from Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Melons to rejoin the group for a photo.
Several Republicans have shared the video, expressing concerns about Biden’s mental acuity, given that he will turn 82 in November. Critics often question his ability to continue serving in office due to his age.
Biden, the Democratic presumptive nominee for the upcoming presidential election in November, is set to face Trump, who will turn 78 on the day of the event. Biden’s mental health has been a topic of discussion among many observers.
RNC Research Account questioned Biden’s actions in its message on X, and the post had already garnered over 1.2 million views by 4:25 p.m. EST.
Conservative commentator Collin Rugg, who frequently shares RNC Research video clips, remarked that “President Biden is seen wandering away at the G7 summit and has to be brought back.”
Rugg claimed that Meloni had to guide Biden back to the group.
Clay Travis, a Trump supporter who has also shared the video, commented on X that “Joe Biden is just wandering off at the G7” and needed assistance from another leader. He humorously remarked that “our president is being babysat in Italy.”
While some users defended Biden, critic Brian Krassenstein labeled the video as “another attack without context.” He pointed out instances from the video to show that the situation was not as it seemed at first glance.
He emphasized the importance of viewing the full story rather than focusing solely on a brief edited clip. The video of Biden struggling to find a chair at a D-Day celebration last week was similarly scrutinized by critics before a full video revealed the context of the incident.
