Vice President Kamala Harris is facing setbacks in recent polls conducted in crucial swing states, with former President Donald Trump outperforming her in key battlegrounds.
After President Joe Biden endorsed Harris as the Democratic nominee following his withdrawal from the race, Harris launched her presidential campaign. While Harris has significant support to secure the nomination, recent polls indicate challenges she may face in the upcoming election.
Despite prominent Democratic figures, like former President Barack Obama, backing Harris, three recent polls demonstrate Trump’s lead over Harris in pivotal swing states essential for winning the presidency.
A survey by Redfield and Wilton Strategies revealed that Trump leads Harris in seven of nine swing states polled, including Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania. Harris leads Trump by a slim margin in Minnesota and ties with him in Wisconsin.
Emerson College Polling/The Hill conducted a similar survey showing Harris trailing Trump in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, and Pennsylvania, with both candidates tied in Wisconsin. Clean and Prosperous America PAC’s polling in four battleground states prior to Biden’s exit also displayed Trump’s advantage over Harris.
While Trump’s lead in some swing states over Harris has narrowed compared to his lead over Biden in previous polls, his lead widened in other states like Florida and Michigan. Polling indicates a significant challenge for Harris to overcome in crucial swing states.
Additional recent polls from On Point Politics/SoCal Research and Morning Consult also found Harris falling behind Trump, highlighting the need for Harris to address her campaign strategy. Despite these polls, Harris has taken proactive steps, such as swiftly raising millions of dollars and holding her first campaign rally in Milwaukee.
