Good news for Vice President Kamala Harris as Election Day approaches: new polling from Fox News indicates she’s leading former President Donald Trump in two key states!
In Pennsylvania, Harris is ahead with 50% to Trump’s 48% among 1,021 registered voters surveyed between September 20 and 24. This marks a shift since July when Trump was tied with Biden at 49%. Harris has made gains since taking the helm of the campaign.
North Carolina shows a similar trend, with Harris leading by 2 points according to a survey of 991 voters. This contrasts with an August poll where Trump was in the lead at 50% to 49%. Both polls, however, carry a margin of error of 3 points, keeping the races tightly contested.
Polling trends show close races in both states. In Pennsylvania, Harris is up by 1.3 points on average according to FiveThirtyEight, while Trump leads North Carolina by 0.4 points. The Democrats are cautiously optimistic, as the last time a presidential nominee won North Carolina was in 2008 during Obama’s campaign. Support from local leaders like Governor Roy Cooper, who is term-limited, is giving Harris a boost.
On the flip side, Trump faces challenges as his endorsed lieutenant governor, Mark Robinson, has come under fire for controversial past comments. Trump has refrained from commenting on Robinson’s scandal, leaving many to wonder how it might impact his campaign.
While voters may feel tight about the candidates, they trust Trump more on key issues. In Pennsylvania, 57% believe he can handle immigration better, compared to 40% for Harris. The economic numbers are closer, with Harris trailing by 6 points (46% for Harris versus 52% for Trump).
In North Carolina, Trump has a significant edge—15 points on immigration and 7 points on the economy. Just recently, Harris emphasized her commitment to border security during a campaign stop in Arizona, asserting that Trump’s strategy is all talk without real solutions. “Let’s not permit scapegoating instead of solutions,” she urged her supporters.
