According to Mary Trump, Donald Trump’s niece, Vice President Kamala Harris has successfully gotten “under” her uncle’s skin. In her newsletter, “The Good In Us,” Mary Trump highlighted how sensitive her uncle is, noting that Harris’s presence has particularly rattled him.
Mary, a vocal critic of Trump, previously described him as “unhinged,” warning that democracy could be at risk if he returns to the presidency. She authored a book called Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World’s Most Dangerous Man.
In addressing the ongoing conflict, Mary praised Harris’s campaign for effectively countering attacks from Trump, including his dismissive comments about her capabilities as a leader. She stated, “Donald can’t handle losing, but losing to a Black woman is particularly hard for him to bear.”
The Harris campaign has been swift in its response, criticizing Trump for his bizarre comments, such as referring to Democrats as “childless cat ladies.” They’ve also been quick to label Trump’s statements as “dangerous lies.”
Mary noted, “That’s quality trolling,” appreciating the campaign’s edgy approach that highlights Trump’s weaknesses and keeps him off message.
Polling results show Harris leading Trump in several national surveys, a notable shift from earlier this year when Trump was ahead of Joe Biden. Mary Trump suggests this reality is deeply frustrating for her uncle, who reportedly struggles with the notion of losing.
Mary pointed out that it’s more than just aggravating Trump—it’s the overall contrasts in their campaigns that are significant. She highlighted Harris’s relatable story of working at McDonald’s against Trump’s privileged background, along with her candid reflections post-2016 election.
Mary concluded that Harris’s ability to be genuine and fearless in her campaign makes a compelling case against Trump’s approach. “Kamala Harris isn’t afraid of Donald,” she stated, “and her campaign reflects that, too.”
