Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has chosen to remain neutral regarding the 2024 presidential election, opting not to endorse any candidate.
During a press conference ahead of the Chiefs’ practice on Wednesday, Mahomes addressed questions about the upcoming race between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris. “I don’t want to use my platform to endorse a candidate,” said Mahomes, a three-time Super Bowl champion. “I think it’s essential to encourage people to register and to do their homework to make informed choices for themselves and their families.”
This statement follows shortly after Taylor Swift’s endorsement of Harris. The pop star, currently dating Mahomes’ teammate, Travis Kelce, expressed her support on Instagram, praising Harris as a “steady-handed leader” and highlighting her commitment to various social causes.
Swift indicated that some of Trump’s recent actions, including using a fake AI version of her in his campaign, motivated her to clarify her political stance. “The best way to counter misinformation is with truth,” she stated in her post.
In response, Trump criticized Swift’s decision during an appearance on Fox News, suggesting it was predictable. He expressed his preference for Brittany Mahomes, stating, “She’s a big Trump fan,” while noting he thought she was “terrific.” This comes after Brittany Mahomes briefly liked and then unliked a pro-Trump post on Instagram, which had sparked some online backlash.
Brittany has mostly stayed away from political discussions since then, although she did address critics on social media, remarking, “To be a hater as an adult, you have to have some deep-rooted issues you refuse to heal from childhood.”
