Early Saturday morning, around 4:30 a.m., U.S. Air Force security personnel at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in Texas were involved in a gunfire exchange with unidentified individuals at one of the base entrances, according to reports from the Associated Press.

Fortunately, base officials reported no injuries from the incident. Stefanie Antosh, the base’s public affairs chief, explained to the San Antonio Express-News that the guards returned fire at a vehicle passing through the entrance, showcasing the effectiveness of the base’s defense procedures.

Antosh noted, “We don’t know what, if anything, started it. But it wasn’t an active threat to the installation, and there is no active threat to the installation,” clarifying the situation.

The San Antonio Police Department responded quickly to assist in collecting evidence, though many details about the shooting remain unclear, such as the number of shots fired and the number of shooters involved.
