Trump Sounds Alarm for Steve Garvey in Senate Race Battle

Former President Donald Trump recently commented on why he hasn’t endorsed California Republican Senate candidate Steve Garvey, stating that he hasn’t heard from the ex-MLB star.

While speaking to reporters in Los Angeles, Trump shared his limited knowledge about Garvey, who is vying for the late Senator Dianne Feinstein’s seat this November. “I don’t know much about Steve Garvey,” Trump explained. “I think he’s made a big mistake because he hasn’t reached out to MAGA. And without MAGA, he has no chance.”

When pressed about whether Garvey had sought his endorsement, Trump replied, “I haven’t spoken to him.” He emphasized, “I’m hearing he wants the MAGA endorsement, but he’s got to call me. If he had the MAGA endorsement, he could win.” Trump also expressed skepticism about the fairness of elections, adding, “If he had an honest election, he’d win, but you don’t have an honest election.”

Garvey, a renowned former first baseman for the Dodgers and Padres, faces off against Democratic Congressman Adam Schiff, who currently holds a strong lead in polls. According to an Emerson College poll from early September, Schiff is leading by 22 points (55% to 33%). RealClearPolitics averages show Schiff ahead by about 24.3 points.

In a statement, Garvey expressed his commitment to key Californian issues like affordability, public safety, and the homeless crisis, stating, “I’m running a ‘Steve Garvey’ campaign for all the people of California, not for partisan or special interests.”

Garvey, who supported Trump in 2016, mentioned he would “vote for Trump in November as of right now.” Conversely, Schiff has openly criticized Trump for years, serving as a lead impeachment manager during Trump’s first impeachment trial and participating in the January 6 House committee.

Trump did not shy away from criticizing Schiff, labeling him one of the “sleaziest politicians in history” and saying, “To think he’s going to be senator, that’s why you need me as president.”
