In his new book, Save America, former President Donald Trump shares reflections on his presidency, interactions with various leaders, and a dramatic assassination attempt.
The book compiles photos and stories from his campaigns and time in office. Trump defends his controversial encounter with Russian President Vladimir Putin during the Helsinki summit, where he controversially sided with Putin’s denial regarding election interference over U.S. intelligence findings.
Accompanying a photo from the summit, Trump comments, “This was a very complicated day…I had a GREAT meeting with President Putin of Russia, which was acknowledged by everyone. Then the Fake News started spreading False Stories.”
Beyond his meeting with Putin, the book includes images with notable figures like golf legends Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus, as well as global leaders such as former German Chancellor Angela Merkel and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
Trump recently announced the book release, priced nearly at $100. In a post on his Truth Social platform, he expressed excitement for its launch, citing the success of his previous works and claiming, “this is the BEST OF ALL,” even as he comments on the current state of the nation.
Scheduled for release on September 3, the Associated Press obtained excerpts where Trump recounts an assassination attempt during a campaign rally on July 13. “There was blood pouring everywhere,” he writes under a photo of his injured face, while noting he felt secure because “I had God on my side.”
Trump also takes a few shots at his political opponents, particularly former Congresswoman Liz Cheney, who publicly criticized him after the January 6 riots. He references a past encounter where Cheney, who lost her GOP primary bid to a Trump-backed challenger, asked him for “baskets of goodies,” to which he firmly declined.
Additionally, Trump describes Putin as “a strong man” with whom he had a unique understanding and rapport throughout their dealings.
