A video capturing President Joe Biden encountering difficulty while trying to get into his vehicle after disembarking from Air Force One has gained traction on social media.
This incident occurred after Biden announced he would be isolating to recover from testing positive for coronavirus, leading to the cancellation of his planned appearance at the UnidosUS Annual Conference in Las Vegas.
Worries about Biden’s age, health, and mental sharpness intensified after a debate with Donald Trump where he appeared to lose track of his thoughts at times. Some prominent Democrats, including members of Congress, suggested he consider stepping down to allow another nominee to be chosen. On Wednesday, California Representative Adam Schiff echoed this sentiment by suggesting Biden “pass the torch” to another Democrat.
After revealing his COVID-19 diagnosis, Biden traveled to Delaware, where he struggled to enter his vehicle and required assistance, captured live by ABC News.
An anchor mentioned, “It appears he might be getting a little help just getting into the car there, hard to make out through the rain what exactly is going on there, but it does look like certainly the president’s feeling the effects of early in the stages of Covid.”
A short clip of the incident was posted on social media platform X by user ‘@JordanUhl,’ garnering over 620 reposts and 2,600 likes.
White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre stated that Biden was experiencing mild symptoms and would continue his presidential duties while self-isolating in Delaware.
Following an interview on Black Entertainment Television (BET) where Biden addressed the possibility of reevaluating his decision to run for re-election due to a medical condition, reports surfaced of Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer and House Democrat leader Hakeem Jeffries advising Biden not to seek re-election.
Responding to these reports, a White House spokesperson affirmed Biden’s commitment to running for President and passing his agenda to benefit working families.
Recent statements suggest Biden may be more open to reconsidering his candidacy, with CNN reporting that he has been receptive to calls for him to step aside.
