The incident occurred just before 5 pm EST, with reports indicating nine to ten victims sustaining gunshot injuries of various kinds.
Oakland County sheriff Mike Bouchard mentioned that one of the victims was an eight-year-old child. Rochester Hills Mayor Bryan K. Barnett expressed his heartbreak over the situation.
