The <a href="https://newslivecenter.com/tag/national-weather-service/”>National Weather Service (NWS) Meteorologists are sounding the alarm for wet, heavy snow in parts of Montana next week. A cold front is bringing chilly temperatures to the region, prompting the NWS Great Falls office to issue a Winter Storm Watch starting Monday till Tuesday night.
The Rocky Mountain Front may see up to 12 inches of snow, along with dropping temperatures. Travel could be tough, especially in the backcountry where heavy, wet snow could bring down power lines.
NWS Great Falls warns of heavy rain in lower elevations. Central and northern Montana, including Havre and Great Falls, are expected to receive more than 2 inches of rainfall. Areas like East Glacier Park and Elkhorn Mountains are also in for bad weather.
Risk of power outages is high due to heavy snow weighing down infrastructure. The office in Missoula cautions about stream rises and debris on roadways. Montana anticipates high winds, potentially reaching 65 miles per hour, causing property damage and travel challenges.
Stay safe and keep updated on weather alerts as the storm approaches!
