A fresh wave of attacks from Ukraine targeted a Russian air force base in Morozovsk, Rostov Oblast, approximately 190 miles from Ukrainian-held territory. Video evidence of these strikes has surfaced on social media.
The Ukrainian General Staff confirmed on Telegram that munitions warehouses—housing powerful glide bombs—were among the hits, and assessments regarding the potential damage to Russian air-defense systems and aircraft are ongoing.
This operation reportedly involved collaboration among various Ukrainian military and intelligence agencies.
Meanwhile, Russian forces continue to press their offensive on multiple fronts in eastern Donbass and around Kharkiv, hoping for a breakthrough after months of grueling combat. Although Moscow has taken some ground in Donetsk Oblast, including capturing villages near Chasiv Yar, these advances have come at a steep cost in casualties.
Anton Gerashchenko, a former adviser to Ukraine’s internal affairs ministry, shared compelling footage on X, showcasing the aftermath of the drone attacks at Morozovsk, along with other military activities.
Further validation came from the Tendar conflict monitoring account, which shared videos indicating significant secondary explosions at Morozovsk, implying successful strikes on munition stocks.
The account commented: “The secondary explosions observed at the Morozovsk airfield are substantial, indicating heavy ordnance detonating—a closer look at satellite imagery will be insightful.”
Professor Phillips P. O’Brien from the University of St Andrews noted that the Morozovsk air base resembled “a Christmas tree” due to numerous secondary explosions following the attack. He indicated that the likelihood of damaging Russian aircraft and maintenance facilities is also quite high due to the extent of the fires.
The Ukrainian military also claimed its forces targeted oil depots and fuel facilities across Belgorod, Kursk, and Rostov regions during the operation.
On a related note, Russian state media reported a Ukrainian strike on a building in Sevastopol, Crimea, utilizing American-made weapons, which caused property damage without resulting in casualties.
Just a day earlier, a massive fire erupted at an oil refinery in Omsk, Russia, with dramatic footage showing the facility engulfed in flames.
