Oh hey, so Russia‘s largest anti-submarine vessel, the Admiral Levchenko, had a little incident. Turns out there was a fire in the Barents Sea. Dmytro Plenchuk, the spokesperson for Ukraine‘s Southern Defense Forces & Navy, spilled the tea on Facebook, sharing that the ship’s engine went a bit haywire and caught fire with hundreds of crew members onboard.
Yep, the Ukrainian media spilled even more tea mentioning that this vessel was actually made by Russia. With the ongoing war in Ukraine, Russia has already lost some key ships, and now, this fire onboard the Admiral Levchenko adds to their troubles.
When Ukraine imposes sanctions on a superpower and their own equipment fails, it’s a rough day. Plenchuk mentioned in his press briefing that a building on the ship caught fire, but on the bright side, he did give a shoutout to the crew for their efforts.
On the other side, Kyiv is not playing games with the Black Sea Fleet of Russia during Putin’s invasion. They’re determined to reclaim Crimea, which is currently a key hub for Moscow’s logistics in south Ukraine, resulting in Russia having to relocate their warships to Novorossiysk Base in Krasnodar area.
According to Grant Shapps, the British Minister of Defense, Ukraine’s attacks have crippled the Black Sea Fleet, rendering it nearly inactive. The Ukrainian forces are leaving no stone unturned, successfully targeting Russian vessels near Crimea using kamikaze drones.
With all the chaos, Russia has begun patrolling the Black Sea in submarines after Ukraine dealt considerable damage to their fleet. It seems like the waters are heating up in more ways than one!
