Greek authorities have discovered a body on an island believed to be that of missing British television and doctor Michael Mosley.
Eleftherios Papakaloudoukas announced the news, but the body has not been fully identified yet.
Mosley, 67, went missing while taking a walk on Symi last Wednesday.
Papakaloudoukas, speaking with The Associated Press, reported spotting the body on an island beach.
Authorities believe the body fell down a slope and hit a wall.
According to police spokesperson Konstantina Dimoglou, it appears to be Dr. Mosley based on clothing and belongings found.
CCTV footage captured Mosley walking near a marina in the village of Pedi with an umbrella.
Mosley’s wife Clare Bailey Mosley has publicly expressed her anguish over his disappearance.
She mentioned the difficult days endured by the family and extended gratitude for the ongoing search efforts.
Mosley, known for his radio and TV appearances, gained fame for his work, including the popular “Fast Diet” released in 2013.
Co-authored with journalist Mimi Spencer, the 5:2 Diet became a hit in Britain for its intermittent fasting approach.
