A Kremlin propagandist recently issued a stern warning to the West in response to the U.S.’s plan to deploy hypersonic weapons in Europe. Evgeny Popov, a host on Russia-1’s 60 Minutes show, hinted at potential strikes on NATO member countries including the U.S., the U.K., France, and others.
Tensions between the U.S. and Russia have been escalating due to Putin’s invasion of Ukraine. Calls for strikes on U.S. soil have been frequently made on Russian state TV over U.S. aid to Kyiv.
Popov’s warning came after the U.S. and Germany announced plans to deploy missiles in Germany by 2026 at a NATO summit.
Popov showcased a map of Europe on screen illustrating potential Russian targets, expressing that almost all European capitals are at risk. He highlighted the vulnerability of the U.K., stating that just three missiles could bring an end to civilization.
The Kremlin also raised concerns over the U.S. missile deployment in Germany, emphasizing the possible consequences for European capitals.
The White House confirmed plans to station long-range missiles in Germany, including SM-6, Tomahawk, and hypersonic weapons, to demonstrate commitment to NATO and European deterrence.
