Hot off the press, maps tracking Russia‘s movements in eastern Ukraine have surfaced, showing significant progress with Moscow even gaining ground in a key town in Donetsk.
Produced by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) in the U.S., these maps are up-to-date as of 3:00 p.m. today. The ISW, a Washington D.C.-based think tank, released maps on Monday that were accurate as of 3 p.m. ET.
According to evaluations based on recent geolocated footage, Moscow has made moves east and south of Chasiv Yar, an essential Ukrainian outpost.
Ukraine’s Military confirmed Russia’s interest in capturing Chasiv Yar, a vital town in Donetsk. This town lies to the west of Bakhmut, which Russia has controlled for over a year.
The well-known Ukrainian War Blog reported that Russia now controls Ivanivske village to the southeast of Chasiv Yar.
Amid conflicting reports, Ukraine’s General Staff mentioned ongoing battles in the vicinity of Chasiv Yar village, refuting claims that Russia had taken over the village.
Heading south, the ISW reports Russian advancements northwest and southwest of Avdiivka, a former Ukrainian stronghold captured by Russia in February.
In a separate account, Russia’s Defense Ministry announced capturing Synkivka in the northeastern region of Kharkiv.
Recent activities suggest Russia is intensifying efforts in Donetsk to pressure Ukrainian resources and extend its influence westwards.
Reports describe Synkivka near Kupiansk as a “ghost city,” with Russian forces close by from both the north and east.
On a similar note, Moscow confirmed seizing Miasozharivka in the Luhansk region’s eastern part.
Meanwhile, reports claim that Russia now controls Staromaiorske, a town southwest of Donetsk City.
Despite initial gains, Ukrainian troops are mounting counterattacks and are reclaiming lost territories.
