A recent video released by Ukraine’s military shows how their forces ambushed Russian troops after successfully intercepting an enemy radio.
The video, shared by the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade of Ukraine’s Ground Forces, highlights their tactics amidst the ongoing conflict that escalated significantly after Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022.
You can see the clip shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, by Dmitri from War Translated. He explained how the incident occurred in the northeastern Kharkiv region, where Russian forces launched an offensive earlier in May, capturing multiple villages and displacing thousands.
However, as of June 8, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Russia’s offensive had ultimately failed, stating, “The Russian army is struggling; we will strengthen our position further.”
Following the failed attempt to take Kharkiv, Zelensky indicated a shift in Russian strategy, pointing towards Pokrovsk in the eastern Donetsk region as their new target.
The Donetsk and Luhansk regions, known collectively as the Donbas, have been a focal point for Russian ambitions since the onset of the conflict in 2014. Zelensky highlighted that while the entire eastern front is challenging, the emphasis is now shifting to Pokrovsk, which is seen as a priority for Russian forces.
Recent insights from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) suggest that Russian troops are intensifying their efforts to encircle Ukrainian forces in the direction of Pokrovsk, affirming that they recently took control of western Novoselivka Persha, located northwest of Avdiivka.
