## Xi Jinping Promises China Will Not Provide Weapons to Russia, says Zelensky
Volodymyr Zelensky, the Ukrainian president, revealed that Chinese President Xi Jinping assured him that China will not supply arms to Russia during the current conflict with Ukraine. Zelensky shared this information during a press conference at the Group of Seven Summit in Italy, alongside Joe Biden.
China and Russia have historically strong ties, but China’s decision not to provide arms to Russia amidst the conflict is a significant development. Reports suggest that while China may not be directly supplying weapons, they are offering technology and capabilities to aid in weapon production.
Interestingly, the United States has warned its allies about China’s support for Russia, including providing satellite imagery for military purposes. This support, involving satellite imaging, machine tools, and microelectronics for tanks, has raised concerns about China’s role in the conflict.
Despite the appearance of neutrality, China’s actions have come under scrutiny, with the U.S. Treasury Secretary warning of repercussions for Chinese companies supporting Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. The Treasury Department stressed that Chinese companies should not offer material support to Russia’s military endeavors.
President Xi Jinping’s close relationship with Vladimir Putin has been a subject of interest, with Putin describing Xi as a trusted ally and world leader known for his forward-thinking approach to decision-making. The friendship between Xi and Putin has been highlighted as a significant factor in their international dealings.
While China officially maintains a stance of promoting peace, advocating for political solutions, and refraining from fueling conflicts, the dynamics of their relationship with Russia during the Ukraine crisis need to be closely monitored.
